Valentina Stella

Valentina Stella, stage name of Immacolata Iorio (Naples, December 8, 1964), is an Italian singer.

In 1982, performing under the pseudonym Vera Stella (which became Valentina Stella in 1985), she began her artistic career in various theaters in her hometown. Discovered by Pier Francesco Pingitore, she went on to become a regular guest on television shows such as Biberon, Crème Caramel, Saluti e Baci, and others.

Stella was one of the main performers in Novecento napoletano alongside Marisa Laurito, with international tours, as well as in Lacrime napulitane, Festa di Montevergine by Viviani, and later again with Marisa Laurito in Napoli secolo d’oro. She has recorded numerous songs rooted in the classic Neapolitan musical tradition.

Her film appearances include Viaggio con Anita (1979) with Giancarlo Giannini and Goldie Hawn, and C'era una volta un re with Paola Borboni.

The writer Domenico Rea wrote about her in La Repubblica:
"The dark voice of Valentina Stella, which remarkably resembles that of Gilda Mignonette (whom I heard), is a true revelation of this century. She has the ability to immerse herself in the plebeian world with a sense of triumph. Her voice is, as we say in dialect, 'abbrucata,' dark, melancholic, and capable of both violence and redemption. It carries the weight of the injustices endured for centuries by the people of the working class."

In 1993, she collaborated on the album Otto Quarantotto & Ventisette by Il Giardino dei Semplici, duetting with the band’s lead vocalists Gianfranco Caliendo and Luciano Liguori on two tracks.

She appeared in the film Benvenuti al Sud (2010), singing the song Passione eterna. From November 24, 2010, she starred in Carlo Buccirosso's theatrical comedy Il miracolo di don Ciccillo, playing Valeria Vitiello, the wife of Alberto Pisapia (Carlo Buccirosso). In the 2011/2012 season, she continued her collaboration with Buccirosso in the successful musical comedy Napoletani a Broadway, earning widespread acclaim throughout Italy.

In 2013, Alessandro Siani invited Valentina to record the song Indifferentemente for his film Il principe abusivo. That same year, she contributed to the creation of the anthem for the Napoli soccer team.

On New Year's Eve 2014–2015, she performed at the Piazza del Plebiscito concert with Gigi D'Alessio. She also hosted the children’s program Soqquadro on Odeon TV.

On stage and in film, she has worked with notable figures such as Vincenzo Salemme and Francesco Paolantoni.

On March 6, 2011, Valentina Stella served as a judge during the finale of Amici di Maria De Filippi on Canale 5.
