TIJUCA Quartet by Gerardina Tesauro

In 2017, during her latest stay in Rio, Gerardina Tesauro shared her artistry alongside Brazilian guitarist Robertinho De Paula at "Vinicius" (the historic barzinho in Ipanema) and other prominent jazz clubs in Rio de Janeiro, such as Beco das Garrafas and Olho da Rua Jazz Club. Later that same year, she traveled to the United States, specifically to New York, where she performed with Benito Gonzalez, Alvaro Ruggero, and other local musicians at venues including Luca's Jazz Corner and Twins Jazz in Washington, D.C.

Gerardina Tesauro founded the TIJUCA project in 2013, a Brazilian music endeavor born from her collaboration with pianist and composer Marco De Gennaro.

The duo merges Brazilian culture and tradition with the vibrant colors of jazz, delivering a captivating and improvisation-rich sound—a hallmark of the jazz world—while faithfully interpreting iconic pieces that reflect the legacy of Brazilian music. In 2014, the project led to the release of the album O REAL.

What began as a duo has since evolved into a quartet, fueled by a deep passion for this diverse genre. The quartet features: Gerardina Tesauro on vocals, Marco De Gennaro on piano, Aldo Vigorito on double bass, Rocco Sagaria on drums.
