

Al Di Meola
Al Di Meola is an American guitarist of Italian descent, renowned for his technical mastery and his contribution to jazz fusion with Latin music influences. He studied at the Berklee College of Music and gained prominence by joining Chick Corea's Return to Forever in 1974. After the band's dissolution in 1976, he embarked on a prolific solo career characterized by complex and fast compositions. Among his most famous works are the albums Land of the Midnight Sun (1976) and Elegant Gypsy (1977), which include iconic tracks such as Mediterranean Sundance.
He is also known for his Mediterranean and acoustic influences, collaborating with artists like John McLaughlin, Paco de Lucía, and Carlos Santana. Over the course of his career, he has explored various genres, from flamenco and Latin music to electronic music in the 1980s (Scenario, with Jan Hammer). In the 1990s, he turned his attention to World Music and modern Latin styles. In 2020, he collaborated with Dodi Battaglia on the song One Sky. Di Meola has been awarded four times as the best jazz guitarist by Guitar Player Magazine.
